- When choosing colours for your space, consider a
colour
from your main
furnishings as your central theme.
- Select three
neighbouring colours from a colourwheel, or choose contrast colours by
making a perfect
triangle on the colourwheel and choosing the colour at each point of
the triangle.
- Usually, the lightest shade of your colours is used on
the walls, but other
colour schemes can work well too.
- Colour choice is a personal decision,
but many designers rely on a colourwheel to choose colours based
on colour theory.
- Designer tile can introduce
accent
colour in your space.
- Calculate the #
of designer tiles needed to
space evenly around your
project.
- Consider designer tile turned as a diamond shape in your space.
- Tile borders for the ceiling,
backsplash, chair rail, or baseboard can aslo be effective.
- To further reduce cost, use plain tile for most of
your area and insert a decorative tile every few inches (or in a larger
space, every few feet).
- Create a custom tile
mural for your floor, wall, or prized furniture piece from commercially-rated decorative tile.
- Choose designer tile items that offer your tile pattern as a clock, pillow, glass
cutting board, wall mural, carpet mural,
clock or coasters.
- Strategically placed coordinate tile accents can help tie your design together, as well as add color and visual interest.
